Commission to prioritize road projects
March 26, 2010
Hillsborough County planners will set priorities for county commission consideration next month of a list of road improvements over 10 years that is part of the 1 percent sales tax surcharge proposal to fund transit and non-transit improvements.
County commissioners agreed Thursday to review the road list that is part of the 25 percent, non-transit project segment of the referendum. Seventy-five percent of the tax revenue would fund light rail and bus projects.
Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority chief executive David Armijo told commissioners he would provide each of them the e-mail updates on HART's planning that he has been sending to three commissioners on HART's board - Mark Sharpe, Kevin Beckner and Rose Ferlita.
Commissioner Kevin White said commissioners opposed to rail improvements should be the first to get updates, to become more informed or "add more fuel to the fire."
